Relief in a Hopeless Situation
My 44 year old daughter was diagnosed 6 years ago with a very rare neurological autoimmune syndrome called Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). One in a million people have this disorder. The total body spasms were unbearable to watch and extremely painful for her.
We were seen by many doctors as well as visiting the U.C.L.A. Medical Center in California. No diagnoses was ever made. By chance we were referred to a neurologist in Las Vegas NV. He recognized the signs of SPS and made the diagnoses. The doctor was honest. He didn’t give us any hope of beating this illness. There is no cure. We left the office with a handful of prescriptions and a recommendation for IVIG therapy. It wasn’t a cure, but it was the only treatment he offered us to get my daughter through. This treatment drained her of any energy so living on the couch was her life.
There were many trips to the emergency room and hospital stays. As always the doctors and nurses had never heard of SPS. They would Google it before coming into the room. On our last visit to the E.R. our nurse asked what the cure was. As always she had never seen or heard of SPS. We explained there wasn’t one. Just more pain relieving narcotics and anti-spasm medications. She smiled and whispered…”I know a doctor that can help you”. We jumped at the chance to find hope and boy did we find it.
I contacted Dr. Hino who had never treated a patient with SPS. But he did offer us hope where there was none before. He said he could give my daughter quality of life. That’s all we asked and prayed for.
In December 2015 we made our first trip to Dr. Hino’s office in Mexico. Within 48 hours of the first treatment we were in disbelief. My daughter no longer needed the use of her wheelchair or walker. We couldn’t believe our eyes. We felt like we were dreaming.
We are 6 months into treatment and the changes in my daughter’s health are remarkable. She is living life once again. No longer afraid to leave the house. She is able to participate in family activities. Once again able to cook, clean and travel. Enjoying the daily grind of life that we take for granted.
There are no words to express our feeling of gratitude. Dr. Hino saved my daughter from a life of debilitating pain. There was no light at the end of the tunnel – where there is one today.
We cannot be more thankful for Dr. Hino’s positive attitude and his amazing knowledge of healing the body.
